As part of its partnership with the nonprofit organization 'Sport dans la Ville' (‘Sport in Cities’), Edenred organized a one-day event dedicated to the subject of sailing and seamanship, to celebrate the exploits of the yachtsman Emmanuel Le Roch. This French nonprofit organization has for the last 20 years helped young people from the town’s disadvantaged districts to develop their potential by taking part in sporting activities.
This event was conceived to give these young Parisians the opportunity to discover the world of sailing and the skills of a yachtsman. The rendezvous formed part of a program to provide youngsters with support and encouragement all the year round through the nonprofit organization ‘Sport dans la Ville’. This provides a way of discovering new environments that are often far removed from the kids’ everyday lives, enabling them to develop their curiosity and to build their confidence.
This unforgettable experience is just the first in a whole series of meetings between the youngsters and the yachtsman to be held in both France and Brazil between now and December. In July other young participants in the ‘Sport dans la Ville’ programs will meet up at the port of La Trinité-sur-Mer in Brittany for a visit dedicated to sailing and the entrepreneurial spirit on board the Edenred sailboat, which will take part in the next Transat Jacques Vabre sailing competition.
In the words of Victor Genin, Edenred CSR Director: “We wanted to enable another of our partners to benefit from our partnership with Emmanuel Le Roch: the ‘Sport dans la Ville’ program. This initiative illustrates and reinforces Ideal, our CSR policy, and especially the ‘solidarity’ aspect of its People initiative."
