Edenred and MasterCard launch their 2nd mobile payment test for Ticket Restaurant®

After a first pilot in January 2015, the Group's French subsidiary and MasterCard are continuing to test mobile payment with a new technology: HCE.

Ticket Restaurant®, Edenred's flagship solution on the French meal voucher market, and MasterCard are launching a pilot project around mobile payment using HCE (Host Card Emulation) technology. Developed for 200 users, this system allows employees to pay for their lunches directly with paperless meal vouchers using their smartphones in Ticket Restaurant-affiliated restaurants with a contactless payment terminal (POS).

Edenred is thus illustrating its will to diversify the formats of its Ticket Restaurant solution and reaffirm its position as an innovative player recognized by its stakeholders, which include affiliated merchants, employee beneficiaries and corporate clients.

 

How does it work?

When they are ready to pay, users simply place their phone on the merchant's payment terminal. The transaction takes only a few seconds and is fully secure thanks to the use of encrypted single-use tokens. Employees can then receive their confirmation and payment amount in the Ticket Restaurant application.
This test that uses contactless mobile payment (NFC) is being carried out with an Android smartphone model, irrespective of the user's telephone operator.
